Unfortunately game developers will often only target the lowest common denominator of features to support the widest number of controllers (some of those things are not even directly supported when using the standard XInput API). You have to remember that controllers are not all equal, and differ in what features they have like: Unfortunately in this case, it seems the devs didn't enable rumble for DS4 (I don't have the game to test). For those you can disable Steam's controller emulation and let them directly handle the input. Now recently some games have started adding native support for DS4 controllers (like RDR2). Historically DInput then later XInput API are considered the golden standards on PC. No surprise because Steam's support for DS4 controllers works by emulating an Xbox controller, so as far as the game goes, it only ever sees an Xbox controller (hence the ABXY labels). You can sometimes find little mods that will swap out the prompts, but honestly, I would just get used to them. Obviously you found Rockstar has a semi-working DS4 implementation, and that is becoming a little more popular in recent years, but you will find many games simply will not support a DS controller in any way, you must use some kind of software to make it fake being a xbox controller. Far better than the janky fan options of the past.

These programs were tough to use, prone to breaking, and just not worth the trouble for most people, so 90% of PC gamers just used xbox controllers, which were often supported flawlessly. Prior to steam adding support you had to use janky fan made programs to operate as middle men, taking the mystery inputs from the controller, and then passing them along as pretend xinput (xbox) controller inputs.
